Government of India received a recommendation from the Fast Track Committee according to which the entry grade of Pharmacists in the central government can remain at the same as it was before sixth pay commission. However, the committee recommended that the pay grade of pharmacist who have served for more than two years in government organization should be fixed at the grade pay of Rs. 4200 in the pay band PB-1.

• Pharmacist (Entry Grade): 4500-7000 Grade pay of Rs.2800 in pay brand 1
• Pharmacist I: 5000-8000 Grade pay of Rs. 4200 in Pay brand 2 Pharmacist Grade II
• Pharmacist II: 5000-8000 Grade pay of Rs. 4200 in Pay brand 2 Pharmacist Grade II

Pharmacist (Entry Grade): 4500-7000 Grade pay of Rs.2800 in pay brand 1:
Normally, central government organizations appoint fresh entrants to this grade, which is the entry grade for the cadre of pharmacist.
Minimum educational qualification for the entry-level pharmacist:
For entering into the entry-level grade of pharmacist, candidates must have completed their higher secondary examination with two-year diploma course in pharmacy and they should also be registered members of the pharmacy council of the state to which they belong.
Pharmacist I & II: 5000-8000 Grade pay of Rs. 4200 in Pay brand 2 Pharmacist Grade II:
Pharmacist who have served for two years in the entry-level at the grade pay of Rs. 2800 in government organizations will be posted to this grade, which will be granted on non-functional basis. This grade of pharmacist is known as Non-Functional grade of pharmacist.

The minimum age limit of the candidates prescribed by most of the government organizations for the position of pharmacist is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 35 years. Even some organizations fix the maximum age limit as 28 years for the post of entry-level pharmacist.
